Public Transport

Shetland has an excellent public transport infrastructure, which visitors can use to explore every corner of the islands.

To get to and from the outer islands, use the excellent inter-islands ferry services or, for Fair Isle, Foula, and Papa Stour, consider an inter-island flight.

Inter-island flights

The inter-island flight service operated by Airtask Group makes it easy to go 'island-hopping' to some of Shetland’s more remote locations.

Inter-island ferries

Shetland Islands Council operates an inter-island ferry service linking the larger islands with the Shetland Mainland. The services are fast and frequent, and passenger fares are very reasonable.
