For a lot of people, the first question about moving anywhere isn't about jobs or schools — it's about the dog. So here's the short answer: Shetland is a genuinely good place to own a pet.

For a lot of people, the first question about moving anywhere isn't about jobs or schools — it's about the dog. So here's the short answer: Shetland is a genuinely good place to own a pet.

Space is the obvious thing. Open moorland, coastal paths and quiet roads mean a dog gets a different quality of life here than in most of mainland Britain. There's rarely anyone else around. The landscape is almost entirely accessible. And because so many people here have animals, it's simply woven into daily life in a way it isn't in most places.
