Brydon Thomason

Origionally from the island of Fetlar, where his family can be traced back for 100's of years, Brydon now lives on the island of Unst with his wife Vaila and their three children Casey, Corey and Nula. With an interest in wildlife since childhood Brydon has a lifetime of local knowledge of the islands and their wildlife.

In 2007 he set up the wildlife tour company Shetland Nature and over the past ten years has established a collaborating team of resident and visiting wildlife guides, photographers and even TV presenters who help to celebrate Shetland's natural heritage to visitors from all over the world.

Although a birder through and through, Brydon is perhaps best known for his work on otters. Along with friend and colleague Richard Shucksmith he co-authored 'Otters in Shetland- the tale of the draatsi' - fulfilling a lifetime ambition. He has featured in or worked on numerous television programmes as an otter enthusiast and consultant, such as BBC Countryfile, BBC Springwatch and Grand Tours of The Scottish Islands to name but a few. Along with Richard he is currently also working with three different production companies making blue chip wildlife documentaries about Shetland's wildlife - mainly otters!
