  • Shetland Dancer Stars in Fitness DVD
By Kirsty HalcrowMarch 13th 2015

Francesca Leyland from Shetland stars in the new fitness DVD, Kelta Fit, based on Scottish Ceilidh dancing. Kelta Fit uses upbeat Scottish music and energetic Ceilidh moves to motivate and energise, whilst helping the body to burn serious calories during low-impact high-energy dance routines. It's a unique, fun and inspired workout suitable for anyone at any age and level of fitness.

The DVD contains 6 x 9 minute workouts that combine real Ceilidh moves with aerobic exercises, designed to raise heart rates, improve general fitness and therefore overall health. It contains body resistance moves too which are really effective at gaining muscle as well as burning fat, and there's no equipment or previous experience required, just a DVD player and a little space indoors – hand weights for a more advanced work out are entirely optional.

Francesca, from Lerwick, is well known in the Isles for her performing and dance teaching. She had no hesitation when she was asked about taking part and combined her love of Scottish music and dance to help us with this DVD:

"I thought it was a brilliant idea when I first heard it. The routines were fun and we had a great fun day filming it. Kelta Fit is a fantastic combination of easy to follow steps along with great uplifting music. We want to bring the fun of a real ceilidh into people"s living rooms."
