1-day Beginner's Photography Workshop
The team at Shetland Walking and Wildlife have just introduced their exciting new photography workshops which they'll run throughout the summer months.
Aimed at beginner photographers with DSLRs, these fun and informative photography workshops will teach you how to get out of the auto modes, discover your creativity and make your camera do what you want it to do. And what better time to master your camera than while you're here in the beautiful Shetland Islands?
The small group workshops (maximum of six clients) are run by Olivia Abbott, an experienced journalist and photographer. Olivia's work encompasses a variety of subjects and situations, including landscape, wildlife, portraits, detail and macro photography, and she will share her experience and enthusiasm in these informal and friendly days.
Olivia explained why the company have decided to offer these courses, “We know that there are a lot of people who buy a digital SLR camera, who then don't really know what to do with it. It can all be a bit confusing for a beginner, and we hope to help people to understand what it is they want from their camera, and how to achieve it”.
The one-day workshop will start with an hour or two going through your camera's controls and explaining some photography basics. You'll then get the chance to put what you've learnt into practice, heading outside to capture some memorable pictures.
The workshops are held in the picturesque little village of Skeld, on the Westside of Shetland, with its small harbour and colourful fishing boats, traditional croft houses and nature hide offering a wide variety of subjects for you to practice on.
The workshops will run on the 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday of each month (May to August inclusive), and cost £80 per person for a full day (10.00am to 4.00pm).
