The Shetland Community Planning Partnership is running a 'Scenario Planning' exercise to answer these questions and we'd like you to get involved.
We've already consulted with over 680 people through individual interviews, stakeholder meetings, focus groups and community workships. Using the information we gathered, we've outlined four possible futures or "scenarios" for Shetland. Now, we want your thoughts, comments and suggestions.
View the four scenarios here. Or, if you'd like more background information first, read about scenario planning, the process we're following, or who we are.

What do you think? What would these futures mean to you?
And most importantly:
What does Shetland need to do to ensure a positive future? What actions need to be in place to ensure we have both strong local decision making and good economic balance? What does Shetland need to do to "Get a Grip"?
We want your feedback and thoughts on these possible futures. We want to develop a conversation.
With your input, Shetland can begin to develop a long term strategy for the next 20 years. Please use the scenarios to consider and comment on the different futures for Shetland.
There are a number of ways you can comment. The closing date for comments is 16th September 2011.
